The Brown Bagger's Resource - AKA: Do you pack a lunch?

Is this what your lunch looks like every day? Day after day after day? Sick of the same `ol, same `ol? Or do you pick up something quick at the local fast food joint? That can get expensive quick! What about your kids lunches? Do you end up with pre-packaged, processed foods because it's seemingly quick and easy to just throw in a bag? I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way! You can have a great lunch, EVERY day with a little planning, and you can use leftovers from dinners or cook a little extra when you are cooking it for dinner anyways, and have a lunch with more "WOW!!" and less "ugh, not this again." :)

This is a list of recipes I've collected over the years for brown bag lunches, catagorized by ingredient for when you have leftovers, and broken down for quick reference. There is everything from soups, to salads, to hot meals or sandwiches, as well as kid-friendly healthy lunches and even some vegetarian options. I even added my list of breakfast-on-the-go because we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

BREAKFAST: These are quick and easy breakfast on the go recipes that can either be eaten on the run, or popped in the microwave when you get to work for a hot and hearty breakfast.

Baked Eggs with Hummus, Tomatoes and Greek Olives (this can also be done in the microwave)

Cottage Berry Crunch (could also be done with yogurt)

CHICKEN / TURKEY: Great uses for leftover poultry, or plan ahead and make extra.

BEEF: Great uses for leftover hamburg, steak, or any beef, or plan ahead and make extra.

PORK: Great uses for leftover ham or pork, or plan ahead and make extra.

Simple Ham Spread (you can use the can ham as suggested in the recipe or put leftover ham through your food processor)

SANDWICHES AND WRAPS: It's not just bologna and american cheese slapped between two slices of Wonder bread anymore.

SOUPS AND STEWS: Break out that Thermos that is hiding in the back of your cupboards or closet, just heat these soups and stew up before packing in your Thermos and you have a hot lunch no matter where you are.

Creamy Corn Chowder (garnish this with some crispy bacon...mmmm)

MISC: If it doesn't fit in another catagory, it goes here.

SALADS: Nothing tastes as good on a hot summer day than a yummy salad, from mild to wild, salads are easy and healthy too.

KID FRIENDLY: Delicious, nutricious and easy lunches for the kiddos that won't get traded in the lunchroom.

Bagel Chips (this is for savory bagel chips, adapt the recipe if you want to make sweet bagel chips)

VEGETARIAN: There are tons of vegetarian meals that make great brown bag lunches also.

AND A LITTLE SOMETHING SWEET:

Chinese Buffet Style Donuts (this recipe calls for frying, scroll down to the "Ratings and Reviews" section for lower-fat baking instructions)

Mini Apple Turnovers (make the dough or use store bought)

Two-Tone Puff Straws (both sweet and savory options)
